Student Grade Viewer Issues in Internet Explorer 8 |
| |
Microsoft has made changes to the Internet Explorer to address security issues and add new features with the release of Internet Explorer 8. With these changes, certain compatibility issues with existing web pages may occur. The Student Grade Viewer web page is not completely compatible with IE 8 and does not properly display the individual student assignment grades. Until these issues can be resolved, Internet Explorer 8 can view existing web pages in "Compatibility Mode." This will allow the web page to function normally. To set IE 8 to view a web site in compatibility mode, do the following: |
| 1. |
Open Internet Explorer 8 and go to the web site that has the issues (in this case, http://vsi.newbostonasp.com) |
| 2. |
Click on "Tools" in the menu bar

|
| 3. |
Click "Compatibility View Settings"

|
| 4. |
Click the "ADD" button in the Add This Web site Window:

|
| 5. |
Click "Close" at the bottom of the Compatibility View Settings window:

|
| 6. |
This setting tells IE 8 to always open this web page up in compatibility mode when you visit this page in the future. You will notice a new button just to the right of the URL window. This is a broken page "compatibility button" and will be turned on whenever you visit this page. You can click this button to turn compatibility on and off. Try this with any other page you may visit if it does not display properly to see if this will fix those issues as well. You may repeat this process with other pages that have this same issue to force IE8 to view them in compatibility mode as well.
