New Boston Lion Band Visits Chicago

Thanks to the support of the New Boston Band Boosters, the New Boston Independent School District, and the labor of hundreds of car-washing band students the New Boston High School Band was able to take a trip of a lifetime to Chicago, Illinois.  The trip began with a heroic 16 hour drive through the night with our drivers George and Larry.  We arrived in Chicago at the Museum of Science and Industry where we met our enthusiastic travel guide, and former band director, Spike Buie!  After enjoying the museum we checked in to our hotel and then headed off for a picture at Buckingham Fountain and dinner at the Hard Rock Café!  The rest of the evening was spent enjoying the beautiful sights and sounds of Chicago at Navy Pier.  Day two began bright and early with a trip to the Field Museum to see SUE (the world’s largest t-rex), and the haunting lions of Tsavo from the movie “The Ghost and The Darkness.”  From there we enjoyed lunch and a dolphin show at the Shedd Aquarium.  We wrapped up the evening with dinner at the world famous Giordano’s Pizzeria and a world class performance by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra!  Our final day was spent viewing the city atop the John Hancock Observatory and strolling down the “Magnificent Mile” of Michigan Avenue!
