May 19, 2008 - New Boston Independent School District began the next phase of the building project with a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new campus planned for the Pre K - 2nd Grade. The new campus will be located just south of the current Crestview Elementary campus at 604 N. McCoy Blvd in New Boston, TX. Dr. Gary VanDeaver, Superintendent, opened the ceremony by welcoming the many parents, community members, school officials and students to the much anticipated event. After recognizing the school board members, local city representatives and New Boston's Royal Court, Dr. VanDeaver talked about how the 15 Million dollar bond issue passed by the citizens came about and how the board and administrative team had been working hard to make this dream a reality. |

"We have a saying at New Boston ISD that the future is bright," said Dr. VanDeaver, " and these young students here today are our future." He went on to say this building program is part of the efforts by the school board, administrators, teachers, and parents to ensure we will meet the needs of the students so that they may have a bright future.
Construction will now begin on the new campus over the next few weeks as the site is prepared with fencing and trailers are moved in for the job superintendent. Dr. VanDeaver stated that the new facility is expected to be completed in 15 months. |

The event was celebrated with an inspiring song, sung by the Pre-K, kindergarten and first grade students, led by soloist Zachery Gooden and music teacher Sandy Hamilton on the keyboard. The students sang a song written by Mrs. Hamilton, titled "The Sun Came Out Today." Mrs. Hamilton said that in talking with the fourth graders, she learned they were sad to know that the buildings they attended school in were either going to be torn down or changed from how they would remember it. Moved by their sentiments and recognizing how difficult change can be, she wrote the song performed by the students to help them see the positive side of change. The song encouraged the students to not look back, but to look to the future instead.
